Tiles

Privacy policy

Last updated 27 September 2026.

Tiles is a personal tracking and coaching app for iPhone. This page says what data the app handles, where it goes, and what we do with it. The short version: your records stay on your devices and in your own iCloud, and we don’t sell or share your data.

Your records

Everything you log, such as trackers, entries, goals and workouts, is stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is on, it syncs through your own private iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit, so it appears on your other devices. We cannot see this data. Deleting the app or its data removes it from your device; you can remove the iCloud copy from your iCloud settings.

AI processing

When you type a message, send a meal photo, or talk to the coach, that message or photo and the context needed to answer it (for example, the names and targets of your trackers) are sent over an encrypted connection to our server. The server forwards it to an AI model provider (currently Anthropic’s Claude models, reached through OpenRouter) and returns the answer to the app.

Our server does not store the content of your messages or photos. It keeps short-lived technical records: a random device identifier and a count of requests per day, used to enforce fair-use limits and deleted after two days, and a device key used to confirm requests come from the genuine app. The model providers process requests under their own terms and privacy policies.

Usage statistics

To know how many people use Tiles and which features they use, the app sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in the EU: that the app was opened, that a tile or goal was created (with the kind of tile, such as “water”, or “custom”), that a coach setup was finished, and, when you ask about your numbers, the shape of the question: the screen it was asked on, the kind of tile and time period it covered, and whether it was answered. These events never include the words of your questions, what you log, the names you give your tiles or goals, or your messages. They carry a hashed, anonymous identifier that cannot be traced back to you and is not linked to your Apple ID or used to track you across other apps.

Apple Health

If you allow it, Tiles reads data from Apple Health (such as weight or steps) to show alongside what you log. Tiles never writes to Apple Health. Health data is not used for advertising or sold, and is not sent to our server except where it is part of a message you ask the coach about.

Waitlist email

If you join the waitlist on this website, your email address is stored with our email provider (Buttondown) and used only to tell you about the beta and the launch. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

What we don’t do

No advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no selling or sharing of your data with data brokers.

Children

Tiles is not intended for children under 13.
